I fished Fri. night, started out at the mouth of 18 mile creek anchored in 55 ft. of water.
fished there till about 1 am, caught one striper about 1 pound and a gar. Had plenty of bait
up but no action with the fish. Decided to try the I-85 bridge over 23 mlie creek. I had never
fished there at night and heard it was a good place to catch crappie and hybrids.
We caught 2 small crappie and two pretty good channel cats, but no linesided fish. It may be
a little too late in the year to find any hybrids or stripers up that far, I don't know. I haven't really
been having much luck in the areas I have been trying, so I tried something a little
different. Anybody else do any good this weekend? Nick

Fished from 6pm Friday night to 3am, took a nap at the landing, then back on the lake from
5:30 - 12pm on Saturday..Caught a ton of fish Friday night from 10pm - 1am anchored on some
humps outside Jakes cove..Best method proved to be suspended down lines below the drawn up bait.
.No fish on cut bait but I feel that was my inexperience.. Saturday, we caught 2 fish right away
on lead-core then nothing (floating grass was horrible in deeper water and water under
24ft was solid grass up to 5 ft)..Changed to down lines and freelines and got on them pretty
good around Putmans..Overall, we caught somwhere in the neighborhood of 50-60ft with most
being at or around 21 inches..Biggest fish was around 9lbs..Kept a few for dinner and released the rest..
We only had 2 floaters but they took off after a few minutes of swimming cirles on top (undersized or
we would have kep them also)..see you fellows down at the hill in 1 month..

I fish almost exclusivly at night on Lake Murray [Fri. most every weekend] in the spring and summer
and have found out that 4:00 AM is almost like setting a clock on Lake Murray, no matter what --> moon phase,
wind or rain. You want to be in position with baits out at 4:00 AM. From then till around 10:30 AM strap on
the roller skates because they will be biting from all directions and the drags sinning in harmony, numerious
2-3-4 at a time hook ups.

Capt. Toby and I had a long day at the Hill. From 7:00am till 2:00pm not one bite!!!!!!!!!
Was heading to the landing and discussing stopping at Murray for the rest of the day when the
350A lit up. Caught 15-20 fish real quick with some real nice hybes in the mix!! Then they were gone!
No 30's but we'll get them next time. Capt. Toby's top on that beautiful LUND sure kept us dry
because the HILL got real wet and of course WINDY at times!! Later , "OLE 68"

since i'm still shopping around for a good pre-owned outboard. mine is shot!!!! But the trolling
motor works like a champ. we trolled and fished from the landing all the way to the first cove on
the left after the power lines. we ended up with 6 fish, 3 keepers. all fish were caught on red-shad worms
u tail, and redbug trick worms 7". i hooked up with 2 nice stripers on a spinner bait in 2 feet of water.
my partner lost one trophy largemouth on redshad in about 5 feet. in all it was a good day, the trolling motor

Sorry this is a little late. Fished the BFL at Wateree and claimed my first ZERO in the tourney.
Caught 5 shorts and had a real nice fished hooked up but it came up and threw the spinner bait.
It was at least a 5 lbr. I wanted to puke! That might cost me the regional as I droped from 18th to
42nd in the points. Stayed the following week at Lake Murray and caught a FEW largemouth but
we did get on some good stripers.

Well guys, fished the area of the two rivers again. Saturday June 15th. Clarity around 4-5 ft. water temp about
76 degrees 20ft down. Fishing in 38 ft of water surrounded by deep except one side. Caught 1 small striper
during night, THEN, in the AM, caught 5 hybrids 4-5lb range and 1 10lb striper on Zebco 33. BUT! My 5500
and 6500 ambassadors and 7 ft rods could not manage 2 hogs that took me into trees and 1 about 20lbs that
I got up but he shook hook out of his mouth. Maybe next time huh?

Have you ever started a day when nothing goes right?, got up at 3:30am to go
to Murrey but the wind in Charlotte was already 15mph and gusting so I
decided to fish Wateree instead. I stoped in Rockhill to eat the grill was
down at Waffel house and Mickey Dees wasent surving till 5:00 so I waited,
went to charlies and got some real nice hearing and then decided to put in at
clearwater marina whitch I,ve never been there before needles to say I spent
an extra 45min trying to find and when I did get there they were having a
huge bass tourney and it was packed, but after all this I caught 16 stripers
from 18" to 24". The bait would die if you put it down so I free lined, the
stripers and baitfish were at 12 to 15' in 20 to 45' of water had alot of
short hits but the stinger hook put an end to that, I caught more fish on
Flukes and Bomber long A (clear flash) fished fast and irratic than live
bait. The stripers were near the dam and were caught from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
(Point) fish hard, stay focused, be open to options and remember someone on
the lake is catching fish.

Took a friend up to Wateree for about 2 hours worth of fishing. We had limited success he
caught one that weighed 3.2 on a Pop-R. I lost one at the boat on a Jig that was about 2 lbs.
Not as much action as I would have thought but had a great visit with an old friend. We did see
lots of boats chasing striper schools on the lower lake.

Caught about 12 hybrid Saturday, June 1st. Most were small about 1 to 1 1/2 each on live 4" bait
downlined beside boat. 1 Striper was caught about 4lbs on live herring in the A.M. on bottom. 2
Largemouth,  5 to 6lbs, probally schooling, caught under a cork 3 ft deep with live herring in 30ft of water.
Water temp was around 70degrees about 20ft down and about 6 ft clarity. Steady breeze most of night.
Caught on a hump a little ways from the 2 rivers meeting and the dam. Plenty of good bait.

Fished Saturday from 7am to noon for stripers around lower lake. Marked fish all morning and saw some

had affected the fish. Did talk with one person who fished all morning with 2 small fish caught in shallow water.

Fished Murray Sunday night to Monday morning. The wind was terrible all night long. Tied up
behind towers to get out of the wind. Had a big fish break off and drew up a lot of herring with the lights.
Managed a small one later and then moved up to a creek above the sailing club and caught 1 more, about 3 lbs.
Was really tough with the white capping on the lake. Report from the bait guys was the fishing is very good all
over in 40 to 120 feet of water and fish free lines over the grass beds and some schooling activity in the mornings.
Hope to go try them again before too long. Screamin drag everyone!!!!

I fished the northern point of the first SC cove up from the dam (baitcove)in 40ft. Set anchors at dusk and
fished until 2. Caught 5 stripers 2-4 lbs and lost as many on light strikes and slow reflexes. The stars were distracting.
Fish were between 25-35 ft. Bait was live bluebacks, 4-6". Submerged light attracted small threadfin shad
and a wolfpack of gar. Another fine baitcove night.

Got out at 6 this morning and fished until around 12pm. Me, James, and Julian all hopped in to the
boat and went down to Andersonville Island where I had found some schooling largemouth and striper on a
previous trip. As I was letting down the trolling motor at 6:15 the lake turned over and yes I mean with fish.
Immediately Julian hooked up with a nice 4 pound striper on a Sammy, I then threw my deep little N out
behind the striper he was bringing in and that is when a 20" largemouth annihalated my
gellcoat. We caught several more schoolies with a striper and largemouth mixed bag but as soon as the sun
peaked good the fun was over.

At 8am we headed up to 6 and 20 creek to do a little spinnerbait and jig fishing around brushy docks.
I was flipping a Bass Stalker and Julian and James were using a M & N jig. Needless to say I caught 3 to
their 1 on the bass stalker. Fish were inactive and I could not get them to chase a bushwhacker or buzzbait much.

I had something strange happen to me today. I was in progress flippin a row of docks that had yielded nice
bass in the past and I flipped the dark pumpkin Bass Stalker in next to the back of the dock. When
I engaged the reel I couldn't feel my jig, much like I had cut my line on something. I cranked the handle hard a
few times in mast confusion only to find out that a bass had gotten my
jig and ran under my boat and out to deep water in that short of time.. go figure--$$Bassmare$$

Got to the lake around 8am and had to hunt for bait. Finally got enough 8 to 12 inch gizzards and headed
out to fight the wind. The bite was very slow compared to last week but still managed 16 between me
and my son. The fish were more spread out, but still in the 38' to 50' water suspended around 24'.
Average fish was a good bit smaller than last week.  We were drifting a point and had 2 fish on when
I noticed a pontoon heading up the lake. He saw us and pulled up to see what was going on. After we
boated the fish and baited up, I turned around to make another pass and that :>@&%$# was

If you put in at the dam, Just head straight up the lake. You will pass 2 islands on your left that are relatively
close together and the next island is "Bomb island". You should see plenty of boats in the area. The Stripers have
started to hit. Much success has been had fishing 60-70 ft. deep with live herring (60-140 feet of water). Some
success with cut bait on bottom. Most folks find the fish then anchor off. You will need plenty of rope. All the best

Sam and 8 y.o. son, CJ acompanied me to the "bait cove" near the #2 buoy. We set out 12am and fished till 4:30a.
Fish were just a crank or two off 45ft bottom. Lights attracted many herring so baits were lively and plentiful.
We caught 8 stripers and hybrids in the 2-5 lb range. We released many more...larger ones would make a late run
and hang in the anchor ropes and other downlines. It was nice to find some sizable fish in the area, even though we
lost the big ones. Circle hooks (2/0 - 4/0) did a good job of jaw-hooking the bad boys. Fellow campers enjoyed a

Went out yesterday evening to look for whatever might hit. Took a worm rod, spook rod, and two
beetle-spin rods in our small aluminum boat. The wife and kid caught bream and white bass as fast as they
could reel them in on the beetle-spin. The cat went too and enjoyed watching. I threw a floating worm
for several minutes without a hit. Fishing in the ramp #3 area saw fish breaking and thought they might be
bass. Caught two small stripers on the spook but sure there were bass in the group. Only fished for an hour

Retiredguy and old Charlie launched at Irvine's at 0730 and motored down below the State Park to the
Greenwood Shores area. We fished the docks in this area using the Wacky Worm technique. After 3 piers
I caught Charlie throwing a Beetle Spin, Oh well! I continue throwing the Whacky for about a half hour and
then switched to a Yellow Floating worm (Zoom Trick). Charlie began catching Bream. I switched to a #5 Shadrap.
We fished the entire neck out and as we were coming to the end we saw some fish breaking on the main lake point.
With the boat sitting in 15 feet of water Charlie threw his 4" Dead Ringer Splitshot rig with 1/16 oz. sinker out
and let it sink. He then caught the only LM of the day. It was 14" and a nice fat fish. I did not get a fish all day.
Talked with a friend at the landing, he had found the fish schooling early in the morning in the same area we were
fishing. There were stripers and LM schooling together. He said you had to get there early, hopefully find the
schoolers. He caught some LM along with the stripers using a small Chug Bug.... Retiredguy feels for those
who have a scheduled tournament on Greenwood on Saturday. If the fishing wasn't bad enough, you still
have to contend with all the boat traffic...... tight lines.... Retiredguy

Fished Sat. evening 5:00 to 8:30 and cought 7 stripers ; 3 keepers 23 to 25 in.
Fished Monday afternoon for 1.5 hrs and cought 5 fish only one keeper. But the
others didn't miss it buy much. All fish were 20 to 25 feet down over water that
was 45 to 60 foot deep. I used casting corks to keep bait at proper depth and
suspended others at propper depth at boat side. I anchored the boat and fish came
and went. No action then fish alarm would sound and then with in minutes the fish
would striking the baits. All fish cought in Bear creek area near Stinking creek.
Seeya on the water Rock.

Went night fishing and caught some stripers. Got about 12, with 7 small keepers.
Probably didn't have a keeper over 23", but it was alot of fun and great to be out on
the water without that daytime heat. Caught all the fish in the same spot, anchored
in 75'. Marked fish suspended anywhere from 36' to 55'. Stopped by the weigh in
for the tourn. Lake World had Sat. Was only there shortly and at the time, the
biggest fish weighed in so far was 14+ lbs. Biggest total weight (5 fish/boat) was
38+lbs. There was still a few boats to weigh in yet when I left. Most seemed to
have caught fish. Alot of small keepers. Gonna try the Saluda this evening.

Fished in middle of Bear Creek close to Stinking Creek entrance with live bait and
cought 7 strippers. The largest was 8lbs two 5 pounders the rest were 18 to 20
inches. All fish were at 20 feet down in 40' to 60' of water. The fish were cought
between 10am and noon. Hardly the best time to fish for them or so I thought.
Also early and late saw surface activity of fish schooling; what ever the were they
wern't real big a pound or so.See ya on the lake. Rock.
